I have a Kimber Pro TLE II that I had quite a bit of problems with out of the box. It eventually broke in nicely, and it continues to be my EDC. But the next 1911 will not be a Kimber. You can't even touch one for less than $900. I paid $818 for the Pro Carry II but could've got it for $775 had I not used a credit card. It's always worked great, though the round count is only around or a little under 1k and it's all been ball ammo. I have a couple of factory .38 Super mags and some Metalforms that I found locally.
