good hair mods that are immersive. Doesn't get more immersive than High Poly Vanilla Hair. Looks like it covers humans, and then the last update started the Dark Elves and Orcs. For female characters, I'd recommend {KS Hairdos - HDT SMP (Physics)}. Those little physics movements really add to the fidelity of the game, even on shorter haircuts.SMP physics for hair and clothing does add an extra level of immersion that is worth it if your CPU can handle it. If you take sharp turns, the hair will briefly and violently shake due to the skyrim physics extension. If the hair happens to get stuck in a weird position, just shake it around and it should go back to its original spot.
