I've had good luck with getting the 7-08's to shoot easy , it seems they shoot anything well . in my tikka I use IMR 4064 with a 139 BTSP . in Denise's X-bolt I'm using a slightly reduced load of H4895 with a 120 B-tip , in my 24" broughton bbl remington I use RL17 with a 140 Berger H- vld . the Tikka and X-bolt generally shoot …Nov 25, 2015 · I've got 3 different 7mm-08's . the tikka I use IMR 4064 with a 139 hornady BTSP . when I get some of the IMR 4064 used , I'm going to give RL17 a try . in the remington RL17 with a 140 berger hunting VLD . the X-bolt I use a slightly reduced load of H4895 with a 120 ballistic tip . these are all accurate loads .

The loads I pulled out of manuals 30 years ago are gone; the most current manuals tell me that the 7×57 Mauser now lags about 200 fps behind the 7mm-08 Rem. This is based on pressures now considered safe in older actions, not on case capacity, and not on working pressure in modern actions.

If it were me, based on BC of bullets I would go with 160-175 grain bullets, leaning toward 160. Not the answer you were looking for I know, sorry.
