Luckily level 2 thaumaturge feats are not too exciting. As for combat the goal is to be mid/backline with a hand crossbow meaning the level 1 feat to reload is a must. As to how it feels to play, so far not bad. It is really fun making up whatever esoteric weakness fits.

With that in mind, you should sit down and explain to him the fundamentals of pathfinder 2e, maybe even run your new players a one shot that can help them get use to their characters and help them get use to the game.
