If you hate the boxes but need info sometimes, I recommend it. Menu-> Character Configuration -> UI settings -> uncheck "Display item help" box. For some reason, my chat box began behaving differently as it used to and I don't know why. I must have done or clicked something by accident. Right now, it's always visible even during cutscenes and loading screens. If I right click it and pick Hide Log Window, it will always be invisible unless I press enter and I don't like that.

Even after patch 4:11 I can't scale the NPC text dialogue box anymore by right-click 140% or 120% and it is extremely irritating. NPC Text boxes were never scalable, since you can't open HUD Layout with them open, and they don't respond to CTRL+Home.
