| RECORDING DEMOS IS SAFE! (valve updates)6
Posted by spr1n on Saturday 16 February 2013 - 18:16:29 Comments: 11 There were a lot of controversy about valve update couple days ago. Things are not that as bad as they may appear or how people are telling you! RECORDING DEMOS IS SAFE! Just make sure you have legal FPS. Valve released untested update, which had nothing to do with gameplay, motion and game physics. Update targeted purely visual aspects of the game (well and some file organization). All the gameplay difference that players "found" was caused by forced changed fps. Fps always did and still does affect hl/cs gameplay experience drastically, thats why we have a rule about it. So dont worry, cs and kz are still alive and it will stay that way. All that negative hype is pretty much made up and came up out of valve's mistake, which was not that big of a deal actually. In case you still have some troubles with steam or cs - make sure you've updated everything and restarted steam afterwards again. If problems continue or if you have some troubles setting up amxx / fixing fps - leave a comment and I will try to figure some universal solutions for you. NB! Dont download any crap from the internet to fix your problems. 1st its illegal and may be infected with viruses or will get you VAC ban. 2nd all changes made by valve are configurable without additional files. cheers! UPDATED (20.02.2013) possible solutions: 1. if you have troubles with steam client, such cs/steam updates - try removing ClientRegistry.blob and restarting - or this - or start->run->regedit->go to find->search for "steam"->delete all folders containing any steam related registries (updating and extracting packages takes some time, so be patient while it runs) 2. if you have fps issues: - invest some time into video settings adjustment: -link- - turn off ingame steam overlay. there were couple related bugs in latest updates, though its a long shot. - some people get better fps when connected to a server, while its bad in main menu. - using custom launch options may improve fps as well: "-nofbo -nomsaa" and/or "-noipx -nojoy" 3. Check your maximum fps cap! If you have maximum fps value different rather 100.0 - fix it before recording any demos in console/cfg: fps_override 0; fps_max 100; gl_vsync 0 4. Make sure you cs client doesnt participate in beta, this seem to cause problems as well PS. I know those things dont solve all problems with recent updates, BUT personally I have cs running on 4 systems: Windows XP, 7, arch linux and ubuntu - ALL WITHOUT ANY ISSUES, so dont give up, and if you found some solution for yourself - feel free to share it here as well.
